AI consultancy

AI consultancy from people who build the thing

If you’re not sure whether AI applies to your business, where to start, or whether the quote you’ve been given is sane, that’s what this is for. Straight advice for Yorkshire businesses from a team that builds AI tools for a living and will tell you when summat isn’t worth doing.

What it is

In plain English

A lot of AI consultancy is a slide deck and a disguised sales pitch. Ours is shorter and more useful: we spend time in your business, watch how the work actually gets done, and come back with a short list of the jobs worth automating, in order, with an honest cost and payback for each. And a list of the ones that aren’t worth it.

Because we build what we recommend, the advice is grounded in what’s actually possible this year rather than what the conference keynote said. We know which jobs agents genuinely finish and which they don’t, what the running costs really are, and where the data protection questions bite.

It also works as a second opinion. If you’ve had a proposal from another firm, we’ll read it and tell you plainly whether it’s good value. We’ve written how to choose an AI consultancy, including the eight questions to ask us.

Good for

The jobs it's built for

  • AI opportunity review

A day or two in your business, then a written list of what to automate, in what order, with costs and payback. The deliverable is a plan you could give to anyone.

  • Second opinion

Someone’s quoted you for an AI project. We’ll tell you whether it’s sensible, overpriced, or the wrong thing entirely.

  • Tool selection

Which AI assistant your team should use, on which plan, with which settings, so client data stops being pasted into tools nobody has assessed.

  • Staff training

Half a day getting your people genuinely capable with the tools that already exist. Often the highest-return AI decision a small business can make.

  • Data and risk

What the ICO guidance means for your specific use, where your data goes, and who’s liable when the AI gets it wrong. Before you deploy, not after.

  • Grant and funding support

Help turning an idea into the kind of fundable sentence Made Smarter advisers like. We’ve summarised what’s available in Yorkshire.

When we'd say no

What it isn't for

We don’t do transformation programmes, strategy away-days or anything that produces a deck but no decision. If your business genuinely has no repetitive information work worth automating, we’ll say so in the first hour and not charge you for a report that says the same thing in forty pages.

And we’re not independent in the pure sense: we build things, and we’d like to build yours. We manage that by putting it in writing when the right answer is a subscription you can set up yourself, and by being happy to hand our plan to another builder if you prefer.

Cost and timescale

What it costs

The first conversation is free: half an hour, no obligation, no sales script. An opportunity review is a fixed fee, typically £750 to £2,500 depending on the size of the business, and if you go on to build with us it comes off the first project. Training is priced per half day.

Every number we give you is grounded in what the work actually costs to build and run; see our published ranges.

Where we work

AI consultancy across Yorkshire

We provide AI consultancy to businesses across Yorkshire, in person: Leeds and Bradford are on the doorstep, Sheffield, Huddersfield, Wakefield and York are a short drive, and we’ll come to Hull or Harrogate for the price of a brew. The advice is better for having seen the warehouse, the clinic or the workshop, and most of what we recommend comes from watching someone re-type something for the third time that morning.

Questions we get asked

Straight answers

Do we need to know anything about AI first?

No. You need to know your business, which you do. We’ll handle the translation, and we won’t make you learn what a transformer is.

What do we get at the end?

A short written plan: the jobs worth automating, ranked, with what each would cost to build and run and how quickly it pays back. Plus the list of things we looked at and don’t recommend, which is often the more useful half.

Will you just recommend that we hire you?

Sometimes the right answer is a tool you can set up yourself, and we’ll say so in writing. When we do recommend a build, you’re free to take the plan elsewhere. We’d rather be hired on the strength of the advice than trapped by it.

Can you help with the data protection side?

Yes. We work to the ICO’s guidance on AI and data protection, we’ll be specific about which providers see your data and on what terms, and we’ll tell you when a use needs a proper impact assessment before it goes live.

Are you in Yorkshire?

Yes, properly. Based in the county, serving businesses across it, and we’ll come to you. We also work with businesses elsewhere in the UK and beyond; we just won’t pretend to be local to Surrey.

Got a job in this shape?

Tell us what's eating your week. You'll get an honest view on whether this is the right fix, what it would cost, and when it isn't worth doing. Half an hour, no obligation, no sales script.
