Bespoke AI software
Bespoke AI software, built for how your business actually runs
Sometimes the process is the business, and no product on the market fits it. We design and build custom software with AI woven through it where it earns its place, from internal systems to full SaaS platforms, for businesses across Yorkshire and the UK.
What it is
In plain English
Most businesses should buy software, not build it. We’ll tell you that in the first conversation if it applies, and we’ve written a whole piece on when building wins. But some businesses are running on a process that is their competitive advantage, and off-the-shelf software fits it the way a catalogue suit fits: roughly, and everyone can tell.
For those, we build the thing properly. A system your business runs on, with logins, data, reporting and AI used where it genuinely helps: reading documents, spotting patterns across records, drafting the things people currently write from scratch. Not AI sprinkled on for the brochure.
Our care home governance platform, Guardian Care, is the shape of it. Hundreds of Word and Excel forms replaced by one system a whole care group can read at a glance, now live in over fifty homes.
Good for
The jobs it's built for
-
Internal systems
The operational platform your business runs on, replacing the spreadsheets, shared drives and the person who holds it all in their head.
-
Governance and compliance
Audits, checks, incident reporting and statutory records, structured so a manager sees what’s going wrong before the inspector does.
-
Client and customer portals
A place your customers log in to see where their job is, upload what you need and stop ringing to ask.
-
AI-powered SaaS
A product your customers pay for, from first sketch to billing. We’ve built and run our own, so we know what comes after launch.
-
Knowledge systems
Forty years of past jobs, quotes and know-how made searchable and usable by the people who weren’t there for it.
-
Data and reporting
The numbers from every system in one place, with the AI explaining what moved and why rather than just charting it.
When we'd say no
What it isn't for
If a product already does ninety percent of what you need, buy it, pay for the tier that doesn’t train on your data, and spend the difference on getting your people using it well. We’d rather point you at the right subscription than build you a worse version of it.
And we won’t quote a fixed price for “the whole thing” on day one. The first version reveals what the second version needs to be. We fix the scope and price of each phase, ship something usable in weeks, and let what people actually do with it steer the rest.
Cost and timescale
What it costs
Bespoke platforms start at around £20,000 and most land between £30,000 and £80,000, quoted properly after a short paid scoping exercise rather than guessed from a phone call. If someone quotes you £8,000 for a platform, they’re quoting for a prototype and you’ll find that out in month four.
Running costs are hosting, model usage and maintenance. Software needs looking after as suppliers change and browsers update, so budget a retainer or accept you’ll pay for fixes as they come. We’ve set out the full picture in what AI automation actually costs.
Where we work
Bespoke AI software across Yorkshire
We’re custom AI developers based in Yorkshire, building for care groups, manufacturers and professional services across Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and York, and for clients further afield who wanted a team that would come and sit in the building. The useful part of a bespoke build happens on site, watching how the job is really done, and that’s a drive up the M1 rather than a Teams call.
Questions we get asked
Straight answers
How long does a bespoke build take?
A first usable version in six to twelve weeks, then iteration. Platforms like Guardian Care grow over a year or more as the business finds new uses for them. We ship early on purpose, so you find out whether the idea survives contact with its users before the big money is spent.
What technology do you use?
Modern, boring, well-supported web technology, with the current frontier AI models behind it. We pick the cheapest model that does each job reliably and show you the maths. Nothing exotic that only we can maintain.
Who owns the code?
You do. Source code, data, accounts and documentation are yours, and any competent developer could pick it up. We think that’s the only honest basis for a long relationship.
Can you work with our existing systems?
Yes. A bespoke system usually sits alongside your accounts package, payroll and email rather than replacing them, and connects to them properly.
Is our data safe?
Security and privacy are designed in from day one, not bolted on. We build to the ICO’s AI and data protection guidance, decide with you which AI providers see what, and keep sensitive data on infrastructure you control where the sector demands it.
